My name is Nicole, I love Hip-Hop and Jazz, movies, writing, reading, and especially dogs. I can’t stand when people judge other people based on petty things like looks. I like to fantasize about stories…probably a bit too much. With this film club, I can set my dreams to action and combine my love of writing, movies and dogs.
ABOUT NICOLE’S FILM PROJECT:
SUBJECT: The importance of spaying and neutering animals, specifically dogs.
First, let me say, I have two dogs that I love very much. I spent the entire fifth grade begging for a dog and researching how to be a good owner. When I looked in shelters and stores, I saw so many dogs without anyone to love them. I started this topic thinking of the ways that people torture animals. In my film, I will explore the affects of over-breeding animals which can lead to more animals not being able to find homes. My film will also discuss how more responsible pet owners actually help their pets by spaying and neutering them. It will also focus on how people treat dogs.
NICOLE ON SOCIAL-JUSTICE FILMS:
I feel it’s important to do films on social-justice issues because it is a way to describe a persons opinions on an important issue. I think it’s great that with films you can use images and information to express stuff you believe in. Even if people don’t agree it will make them think and thinking about things is the start of actually doing things.
WHAT I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP:
I want and hope to be a writer. I dream of seeing my on the cover of a book or seeing someone enjoying reading a book of mine. I look up to writers. I love thinking about how they felt when their books got published. I even dream about myself talking to characters in books of mine, so I think that’s an indication of what I’m going to do in life.
